Athletics Club at Merrow Junior School
This after-school club will teach your child fundamental athletics skills: running, jumping and throwing. All while having fun in a friendly, supportive environment.
We use drills, games and both collaborative and competitive elements to develop your child’s skills.
The club will improve their fitness, speed and agility. It will grow their confidence and support them in different sports in the future.

Please note: Whilst I am committed to providing these athletics clubs, from time to time other professional commitments may mean I become unavailable. I will aim to provide as much notice as possible. Registration includes a minimum of 10 sessions per term.
Children will need to wear PE kit.
Sessions will be outdoors in all weather (as long as it’s safe!) There is nowhere indoors that is large enough for us and the gym is often used by another club. So please make sure that your child is suitably dressed.
Black leggings or sweat pants may be worn instead of skort / shorts.
A lightweight waterproof jacket is recommended as is a hat, neck buff and gloves.
As we have lost the use of the All Weather Pitch, running will often take place on the field, which is often very muddy. So old trainers are recommended, or waterproof trainers if you have them.

About Chris
I have been an athlete for over 30 years and still regularly compete on the Masters athletics circuit. I’m a sprinter and jumper and these days refuse to run anything longer than 200m! (But ssshhhh don’t tell the children!!)
I am a qualified UK Athletics coach, am DBS checked and I’ve coached athletics for over 10 years.
I’m also mum to Elsa and Nina Thomson, but Athletics isn’t a priority for either of them. So this kids club is my last chance to channel my passion for Athletics to the next generation!
